Our story isn’t a typical business plan. It’s a family story that began with a laugh, a hobby, and one very memorable pet rock.
The Pet Rock
It all started a couple of years ago when my twin granddaughters gave me a pet rock for Christmas. I took it to work, set it on my desk, and thought it was a pretty funny gift. It didn’t take long for it to get noticed.
One day, the owner of the company stopped by my desk, pointed to it, and asked what it was.
“It’s my pet rock,” I explained. “My granddaughters gave it to me.”
“Does it have a name?” he asked.
“Not yet,” I said.
He looked at it thoughtfully for a moment and then declared, “You should call it Slingshot.”
I had to ask, “Why Slingshot?”
He grinned and replied, “Because every rock deserves to be put in a slingshot and flung across the yard!”
We all had a good laugh, but that name—Slingshot—it just stuck.
The Creations
That little rock sat on my desk, but my real passion for rocks was happening at home. For a while, I had been polishing rocks and hand-crafting cabochons. It was just a hobby, but my family loved it. My wife, granddaughters, daughter-in-laws, and all the women in the family had been taking my creations and wearing them.
That following Easter, as we were all together, they brought it up. “You should start a business with these,” they said. “They’re beautiful.”
Our Name
When it came time to create a name for our new venture, we knew exactly what it had to be.
We thought back to that funny story and the little pet rock that started it all. And since this business was inspired by our family and for our family, the name came together perfectly.

Today, every piece we polish and craft is infused with that same spirit of family, joy, and the unexpected beauty found in nature. We’re a family business built from a hobby we love, and we’re thrilled to share our creations with you.
